Jimmie Jack Drath

Jimmie Jack grew up on the Kenai river. He began running the river on his own when he was just 13 in 1982. "I just love being a river guide. The Kenai River is a special fishery. It is amazing how many fish are in this river!" Jimmie Jack was a world class pole vaulter and competed at the 1996 U.S. Olympic Trials. Lately, Jimmie Jack has been featured on Larry Csonka's North to Alaska show, Globo TV in Brazil, and many Kenai and Kasilof fishing reports on KTUU News in Alaska. Currently, his passions are fishing and Christian missions in Brazil and Mozambique. "I am so blessed. God has allowed me to live life to the full. I get to be a fishing guide on the awesome Kenai River in the summer, and then I get to bless others who are less fortunate in the winter. Praise the Lord!" Jimmie Jack is a Certified IGFA Captain. Currently, Jimmie Jack is serving on the board of directors of the Kenai River Professional Guide Association.

Big Jim Drath

Big Jim is Jimmie Jack's dad. Big Jim has been fishing the Kenai River since 1982. When he retired from his career in security on the Alaska Pipeline, he found out that his son, Jimmie Jack had painted his boat red. Jimmie wanted his dad to join him as a fishing guide on the Kenai River, and they have been having a blast ever since. Big Jim knows the Kenai River well, and how to pull out the big kings. As he puts it, "This is where I live, this is my house." Jimmie Jack says that his dad has the HOT plugs. "Shoot, he has more awesome plugs than any of us other guides combined. We try and take them, but he sleeps with them under his pillow."

Adam "Salty" Nath

We picked up Adam as a free agent following the 2008 season. He was a star peformer for the Bulldogs, and will be improving his skills with the advanced training here at Jimmie Jack Fishing. Coach Jimmie Jack is positive that Adam will break all previous fishing records that he set last year. During the offseason you can find Adam leading worship, and studying at the International House of Prayer,a Christian ministry school in Kansas City, MO.

Dave "Catdaddy" Drake

Catdaddy ran into Jimmie Jack on the Christian mission field in Bolivia. He says, "Jimmie and I were laying brick on this church wall in Cochabamba, Bolivia and I asked him if he needed another fishing guide. Jimmie said he did, and I was so excited that I did not even talk to him for a whole day. All I do is fish and hunt. This is a dream of mine that God has blessed me with. Wow, more than I can even ask or imagine! Being a Kenai River fishing guide is a dream come true. Thank you Jesus! Even if nobody is catching fish, we will still catch fish, and even limit! I believe in miracles!"
"At Jimmie Jack Fishing we want more than for ourclients to catch fish. We want them to leave knowing they have made new friends perhaps for life. It's far more than just a fishing trip and catching a fish of a lifetime. It's seeing some of the most beautiful scenery in the world! They spend time on the world famous Kenai and Kasilof rivers... seeing eagles, moose, or perhaps bear, or even whales on a halibut trip. This is far more than just a fishing trip in a fishing boat. This is for some, if not most, a true adventure of a lifetime with a staff of experts who truly care about their new friends having an unforgettable trip of a lifetime!"

Jacob "Duke" Hirst

Hello all! My name is Jacob Hirst. I grew up fishing as often as possible down in the great states of Oklahoma and Texas. We fished for anything and everything we could, with an emphasis on largemouth bass, catfish and crappie. It was a lovely childhood to say the least. For college I decided to move up to the NW and go to school at Pacific Lutheran University, but just so you all know one of the main reasons I chose the NW was because of the outdoors. Before I had a chance to make it up to AK for the first time I thought that WA was a sportsman's paradise. Moving up to the NW was when my world was turned upside down; God decided to introduce me to Salmon and Steelhead fishing, and man God is good! I always wondered why Jesus spent his time here on earth with a bunch of fisherman and after doing some REAL fishing I now know why, because it is the best thing on this earth! I cannot wait to get to AK in May and help people do the thing that I love most everyday, fishing! I can't wait to meet all the people that we will be taking fishing this summer. I can tell you one thing about what y'all have to look forward to fishing with Jimmie Jack Fishing...YOU are in for a treat!

Colleen Shaw

I have been fortunate to live a life of many adventures. The skills I've acquired have developed me into a contemporary version of a Renaissance woman.I work the off-season as a freelance technology writer and takeannual summer sabbaticals to cook for hunting and fishing lodges from Santa Rosa Island to Alaska. I find there is nothing more enjoyable than a table full of hungry guests, the camaraderie of lodge employees, and the experience of big country. Cooking for local lodges provides an intimate venue for meeting fellow travelers and making new friends. I never tire of trying something new, acquiring new skills and finding creative ways to apply that new knowledge. This year, my challenge is to document my summer adventure by writing a daily blog about my life as a cook on the Kenai. I look forward to sharing the experience of being at Jimmie Jack's, andthe thrill of the catch! Its going to be a summer to remember.I look forward to you joining us.
