The coho salmon is a premier sport fish and is taken in fresh and salt water from July to September. In salt water they are taken by trolling or mooching (drifting) with herring or with flies or lures along shore. In fresh water they hit salmon eggs, flies, spoons, or spinners. Coho are spectacular fighters and the most acrobatic of the Pacific salmon, and on light tackle provide a thrilling and memorable fishing experience.

Lime Sauce for Grilled Silver Salmon Rinse your Silver Salmon fillet or steak in cold water then pat dry. Place fillet on a large piece of tinfoil and cover with secret sauce. To make the secret sauce combine the following ingredients:

1/2 C. half sour cream or half yogurt
    1/2 C. plain yogurt
1/2 Tsp. Dill Weed (fresh is better)
1/2 Tsp. Course Ground Pepper Pinch of Curry Powder
    1/4 cup. White Wine
    1/8 Tsp. Paprika
    1/2 Tblsp. Soy Sauce
    1 Clove Garlic, Finely Diced
1/2 Onion, Diced Juice of 1 Fresh Lime

Spread a thick layer on the fish, seal it up and throw on the grill or cook over the campfire. Cook for 20 to 30 minutes for a silver fillet.

The rule of thumb is cook 10 minutes per inch of thickness, measured at the thickest part of the fillet or steak. When done, the fish should flake easily when prodded with fork.
